2018, wax crayon and oil pastel on cold pressed paper, sold as a diptych
Estimated market value: $250
Dylan’s paintings and drawings present distorted portraits of contemporaneity. Inspired by media culture, his work engages in his ability to call upon strategies of pastiche, montage, and quotation to investigate the role of image building and its relationship to popular culture. Satirical yet introspective, his bootlegged representations present a boyish aestheticization of masculinity and consumer culture, bringing social issues of gender and class into question.
Dylan is an interdisciplinary artist from Calgary, Alberta. Presently, he is a 2019 MFA candidate in Studio Art at New York University.
